  • A dose of God is in the Angels sent to you from up above

It includes a brief description of the verse, a personal reflection demonstrating how the verse has facilitated my own resonance with Doses of God in my life, a statement of gratitude, and a few guiding questions that may be considered for your own reflection.

Description

Here is description of the verse:

  • A dose of God is in the angels sent to you from up above.

  • Many angels continuously surround your presence. They are sent from God to grace the entirety of your life or just a simple moment of your life. They are those who protect, guide, and inspire you during your lifelong journey. They help ensure that you make the right choices. Your angels could be your parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, children, friends, neighbors, teachers, colleagues, or even strangers. They can live within your home or across the globe. Be aware of the angels who grace your presence and give thanks to God for sending them to you.

Reflection

Here is my personal reflection on the verse:

  • To me, this verse is about the people in my life who positively influence my well-being. When I think of angels as people who help me, inspire me, and otherwise guide me in the right direction, several individuals come to mind. They may intentionally or unintentionally impact my well-being, with or without my knowledge of the impact they are having. In some instances, there have been people -- such as my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, teachers, parents of friends, etc. -- who, without my knowledge, protected and positively influenced me while I was growing up by making decisions about things I was allowed or not allowed to do. In other instances, I have been more aware of the impact people are having on my life around the time they are acting in ways that positively influence me. Throughout the years, I have attempted to interpret my life through a lens revealing that everyone is my superior in some way. I believe it is possible for me to learn something that would add value to my life from virtually anyone, whether someone’s words or actions are teaching me how I should or should not interact with the world. When considering the definition of an angel as someone who protects me and helps me do the right thing, and when perceiving life through a lens allowing me to learn something valuable from virtually anyone, it would theoretically be possible for almost anyone to serve an angelic purpose in my life. In terms of angels providing me with protection, there have undoubtedly been countless instances in which people have done things to protect me without me knowing exactly what they were doing. One of the most obvious examples of this would be my parents raising me in a safe home. Looking back, I was generally unaware of the intentional decisions they were making to ensure I grew up in an environment that exposed me to a minimal amount of unnecessary danger. In terms of angels being people who have helped me go in the right direction, there are several family members, friends, colleagues, and people I’ve never met in person (e.g., authors, speakers, and public figures) whose words and/or actions have helped me move in a direction that is appropriate for my life. At this point, I interpret going in the “right direction” as consciously taking steps to do things I both enjoy doing and can do well in a way that contributes to the well-being of myself and others. I believe it’s important for me to do things that facilitate my ability to maintain a state of presence and promote optimization of my physical, emotional, social, and intellectual wellness. If I am personally well, I am better positioned to identify and act on opportunities to do things that could serve as contributions to the well-being of my family, peers, and community. Here, I’ll share a few examples of people very close to me whom I consider angels in my life because they have taught me how to go in the right direction:

  • My wife, Jeni, who puts her love for family into action by creating frequent opportunities for gatherings with family members in our home town, including our immediate family, her mother, her uncle, her grandma, my parents, and my sister and her family. Her actions of organizing consistent family gatherings have taught me the value of a close-knit family and have helped me retain and strengthen relationships with the people I love most.

  • My daughter, Kaydra, who puts her desire for understanding multiple perspectives of the world into action by interpreting her experiences from a variety of viewpoints and confidently asking questions when she needs more information. Her actions have taught me that asking good questions can lead to a better understanding of things not known and that, although not everyone sees a set of circumstances in the same way, it is possible to accept and appreciate perspectives of others even if they differ from our own views.

  • My son, Cole, who puts his love for achieving a goal into action by implementing relentless efforts until he achieves his goal, such as running a half-marathon when he was 12 years old, learning how to slalom waterski, and building an efficient and sustainable fitness routine that he enjoys into his daily life. In each of these cases, as well as many other instances, he could have decided to give up long before achieving his goal. His efforts to pursue and achieve goals that are challenging have taught me that a driven mindset, coupled with committed actions, can result in the accomplishment of great things.

  • My daughter, Claire, who puts her love for loving others into action by exhibiting genuine kindness to everyone she encounters. She is persistently polite to the people she is around and, in my conversations with her, always speaks kindly of others. Her actions and words have taught me that it really is possible to always show respect, be cordial, and say nice things.

  • My mother, Lana, who puts her faith and compassion for the greater good of the world into action by maintaining a prayerful presence and expressing unconditional love toward others. Her words and actions have taught me that having faith, engaging in prayer, and unconditionally desiring the best for all people, can enhance the level of peace in one’s own life, as well as the level of peace in the lives of others.

  • My father, Art, who puts his love for simple living into action by exhibiting ongoing contentment and appreciation for familiar, non-extravagant things and experiences. His happiness is not dependent on luxurious items and elaborate vacations. His actions have taught me that simplicity encompasses immense value and that a person who is a good steward of simple things and moments can be remarkably content.
